True Companion from the Sahara album by The Rippingtons featuring Russ Freeman, 1994
Gospel Artist had to be listening to this man.
I made love to a girl once with this playing on my stereo and she had a visceral reaction to it. It was incredible. The Rippingtons most moving song. Beautiful arrangement.
This song came into my life in a mix on a Verbatim CD. I listened to it day and night without knowing who wrote it. I don't know what happened to the CD; it was lost many years ago. Today, by chance, I find the song again, and what a surprise to know its performers, masters.
Random trivia... Greg Phillinganes is playing synth on Steve Vai's Side of the war.
We played this song in our wedding it brings memories of me and Leslie in this special day ! <3
Mid Texas here - we all met at a grocery store parking lot and got on busses to north part of Texas. Small amount of money to pay the bus! We all sang the entire way - 4 hours or so - - in between wheat fields and highways -passed Dallas, and jumped out of the bus to hold hands with the next busses people!!! Everyone had Radios - REMEMBER THOSE? lOL!!! So DJs all across America were playing the song - we all had a local station to listen to so we were all together - that Friend under the Brooklyn Bridge - listening to Brooklyn radio knew when it was time to sing. California knew when it was time to sing. This was before computers!!! and they still figured this out - it was so powerful!!! Money was raised to help others!!
What a delight! 🎉 I discovered this through a Weather Channel mix! 😅
Rippingtons good
TY BRONZE56K RADIO 🙏🏾
This is one of my favorite songs so smooth
Bobby is a genius musician, composer, arranger, and producer, and one of my top 5 keyboardists!!!
Yes he is ! He is one of a kind ! He´s got the music in his blood. ! Oh Yeah!
WTF was that?! That was an explosion of sound like nothing I've ever heard before! 😳🤯
Wow🤗
came here from some gameboy iphone case my cousin had. 0:21 - 0:30 what a way to lead me to a nice song.
🎉🎉i love to listen to jazz ❤❤
Just love the 'changes" in this tune. And have done since 1994!!
Love this tune. Tony was such a gentle Soul. His music reflects this. Stadium high school in Tacoma so proud of Tony. I sat in some jam sessions in Renton, Washington with Tony twice I’ll never forget that.. I was taking music lessons at Bellevue Academy of music when the CD came out and brings back so much memories for me of the Pacific Northwest💕💕💕R.I.P. Brother Tony.
This song gets to the bleeding center of what THE RIPPINGTONS has always been. I wish they were still this, today. <3
Did anyone participate in this? Little kids and everyone holding hands at the exact same time. No cell phones just watches. Everyone counting down to grab hands at that exact time. It was a huge deal and very exciting. These were the good days!!
One of my favorite Bobby Lyle songs. Also love the recording on Jimmy B with Najee on Sax 🎷. ❤ 🙏
I 1st got hip to BOBBY LYLE way back from the CTI Records days … This Brother is a GIANT 💥 MIGHTY 💥 WARRIOR 💥✊🏽💥 of musical artist Every note he plays has a Value Of THUNDER 💥 Even his most sensitive grace note(s) specially placed … right in a special place on a song 🎵. BOBBY LYLE is a lIving Legend 💥🎹💥
This is my favorite Bobby Lyle song 🙏🏽❤️🙏🏽 (I’ve had the CD / album for years … But I can’t seem to find it to steam on Apple Music ) I wonder why that particular album is not featured in Apple Music ?
This is such a beautiful song. I had this on tape from CD101.9 jazz station in NY. Brings back memories.
I was in hands across america in Florida, I'd do it again if they did this again
It's nice to hear from people who were part of the chain elsewhere. We were standing North Main Akron Ohio. I was 32 at the time. Time for a reunion : let's do it again. Too bad we didn't do it after 911 to show that we stand together as Americans.
Tony Morales doing an outstanding job on drums
The best of Tony and for a long time
Hah! Clearly this song is where Weird Al lifted "Don't Download This Song" from.
Simplemente fascinante!!!
This should be played at perries steakhouse this fits 100% this song drives me going back
Remembering 1986
Wow, end of my 8th grade year. Was living in Maryland. I remember tuning in to the official program. I remember real well, President Reagan and the First Lady during this. ❤🙏 that maybe someday again..
Simon Phillips and Dave Weckl, absolutely phenomenal
If they did this again, I'd just stay home and play SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom on emulator.
Excellent track by listening to Jazz FM 102.2 goes back during the Steve Quirk's Sunday Evening Show in 1995.
I have a Gameboy phone case that plays this song on it's menu :)
That’s how I discovered this song too!
@@madisonfoster8470 that's so swag
Speechless. Credits anyone I know it’s Vinnie on one of the drum kits. Is Weckl on the other.?
No, Simon Phillips and Dave Weckl
The Weather Channel brought me here
1:20 is the exact same part of the song that plays on a phone case i have (it’s a gameboy phone case)
I was there in philly downtown wahoo
What a Living Legend 💥🙏🏽💥
🙏🏽💥🙏🏽💥✊🏽💥👍🏽
1:13 sounds like "C'est la vie" by Andrzej Zaucha, the moment right before the verse.
How have so many of you so called Vai and Chick fans not heard of this master piece? Shame on you all!! 😎
Russ Freeman is so good that I bought this album without ever hearing the songs on it because I already knew I would like it after hearing 'Affair in San Miguel' on Jazz FM fusion flavours on the radio many years ago. I love every single song on the album!
It's carved in my heart ♥
